Key points

This formula is used to find the quantity AA corresponding to ratio pp of a base amount BB. It is calculated as base amount B×B \times ratio pp.

A=B×pA = B \times p

This formula is used to find the amount AA after a discount or decrease by ratio pp. Multiply the original amount BB by the remaining proportion (1−p)(1 - p).

A=B(1−p)A = B(1 - p)

This formula is used to find the total amount AA after an increase or markup by ratio pp. Multiply the original amount BB by the total increased proportion (1+p)(1 + p).

A=B(1+p)A = B(1 + p)

This formula is used to convert r%r\% from a word problem into a decimal ratio pp for calculations. Divide the percentage value rr by 100100.

p=r100p = \frac{r}{100}
